About Velida

Velida started in 2025 as a webshop to ensure that different interior styles are within reach for everyone.

Our Story

Velida was founded in 2025 by Elise Mulder and Justin Matulessy. Elise and her partner Virgil bought a house in 2022, and without realizing it, their adventure began there. During the search for inspiration for their interior, they were inspired by minimalist, Scandinavian and Japandi styles.

In 2024, Elise and Virgil went looking for flexible moldings to realize their next project: decorating different rooms in the house with elegant arches and organic shapes. During their search, they discovered that this type of molding was difficult to find or very expensive. They saw an opportunity: this could be a gap in the market.

At the same time, Justin was looking for a new challenge. He had a desire to be self-employed and started talking to Virgil about it. Justin had plans to launch a product in the food sector and was looking for advice.

During this conversation a new idea emerged: combining Virgil and Elise's plans for flexible moldings with the idea of a platform that offers both DIY materials and inspiration for niches in interior styling. Virgil indicated that he did not have time for this project himself, but suggested that Justin and Elise take on the challenge together.

The ball started rolling, and in the months that followed, Velida was born. Initially, the focus was on different styles of flexible moldings, but the ultimate goal is to become the inspiration platform in Europe for home and interior design, where customers can also directly purchase all the necessary products.
